Honiley Hall is a private estate in Warwickshire with grounds maintained to an exacting standard over many decades. We are looking for an experienced, dedicated Gardener/Groundsman to carry that tradition forward.

This is a full-time, permanent role. The right candidate works independently, takes genuine pride in the result, and has the kind of reliable character that a role like this demands.

What the role involves.

Grounds & Gardens
  • Maintain lawns, driveways and pathways to a high standard
  • Grass cutting, strimming and edging to an agreed schedule
  • Shrubbery maintenance and general lawn treatments
  • Keeping all areas clear of leaf falls, weeds, moss and debris
Property & Estate
  • Clear drains and guttering around the property
  • As needed, clear cobwebs etc., wipe down low-level paintwork on doors and frames
  • Changing light bulbs and basic handyman tasks
  • Lighting and maintaining the fire during winter months
  • Rubbish collection and removal on appointed days
Equipment & Operation
  • Jacobson T-Plex Triple Deck Mower — fine lawns
  • Toro CT2240 Commercial Triple Deck Mower — pasture and large areas
  • Cub Cadet Ride-on Mower
  • Quad bike — estate and grounds transport
  • Ransomes Pedestrian Mower
  • Professional strimming, scarifying and edging equipment
  • Clean down and refuel all equipment at the end of each day
General Duties
  • Running errands to local villages when required
  • Cleaning vehicles inside and out when requested
  • Collecting guests from local railway stations
  • Assisting with general household and estate matters
The Honiley Hall Airedale Terriers

If you love dogs, you'll love this part of the job.

Caring for our two Airedale Terriers is an integral part of the role. This includes feeding and watering them daily, letting them out and walking as required, and keeping their kennels clean and well maintained.

It is a small but important responsibility — and for the right person, one of the most enjoyable parts of the working day.

Candidates with an aversion to dogs need not apply.

The Right Person Who we're looking for.
  • Demonstrable experience in gardening and grounds maintenance
  • Competent in the operation and maintenance of professional mowing equipment
  • Content to work independently with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail and a reliable, consistent work ethic
  • Comfortable around dogs and willing to assist with their care
  • Willing to undertake varied duties beyond core gardening where reasonably required
  • Full, clean driving licence (Essential)
  • Must have own transport due to the remote location not being on a public transport route

You refer someone you know for the role. If they are hired and remain in employment at Honiley Hall, you receive a reward of £500, paid in four equal monthly instalments of £125 each, beginning the month after their start date.
Terms & Conditions Full reward rules
  1. The reward is payable only when a referred candidate is hired and commences employment at Honiley Hall.
  2. The £500 is paid in four monthly instalments of £125, beginning the month after the candidate's start date.
  3. Each instalment requires the candidate to remain in employment at the time of payment, assessed on attendance only — not performance.
  4. Referrers must use the official referral link. Referrals made outside the tracking platform cannot be verified or rewarded.
  5. Only one reward is paid per successful hire, regardless of how many referrals are received for the same candidate.
  6. The hiring decision rests solely with Honiley Hall. No reward is payable for unsuccessful referrals.
  7. Employees or family members of Honiley Hall are not eligible for the referral reward.
  8. Payment is by bank transfer. Referrers will be asked for payment details upon confirmation of a successful hire.
